Military dog who saved countless lives dies at age 11

In Memory of Army K 9 Johnson

Johnson, a German Shepherd / Rottweiler mix, retired last fall from the Army.  He joined his former human partner SSGT Mathew Holley and family in November of 2011.

Johnson served honorably as a Patrol Explosive Detector Military Working Dog for 11 years.  He was deployed 6 times–2 to Iraq, 3 to Afghanistan and 1 to Kosovo.

Johnson saved countless lives during his years of service by finding numerous IED’s while deployed. Johnson was the only breed of his kind to serve. Johnson was deeply loved by the Holley Family who said, “Johnson loved life, his treats, toys and couch time-a love he earned and deserved”. Johnson was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away on March 19, 2012.

America thanks Johnson for his service to our Country.  God Speed Dear Johnson.

With deepest condolences to the Holley Family
